I made a small change to the eclipse.ini file to make the new configuration run using the Java 9 runtime. Note: Aqua 3.1 is based on Eclipse V4.6 Neon, Aqua 3.2 is based on Eclipse V4.8 Photon, and Aqua 3.3 is based on Eclipse V4.23. I downloaded the Eclipse SDK 4.6 (Neon) M2 from the Eclipse Platform downloads and decompressed it into its own directory. I downloaded the early access version of Java 9 JDK from in the form of a tar.gz file that I decompressed into a local directory: /home/apps/jdk1.9.0. Update: Note that as of October 11/2017, Java 9 is 100% supported “out of the box” by Eclipse IDE, Oxygen Edition Java 9 can be used to run your Eclipse IDE, Oxygen Edition, and can be used to build Java 9 applications without additional configuration.
